The Guernsey Tapestry Gallery
Guernsey
The Tapestry was the Island's Millenium project produced by local people and tells the story of 1,000 years of local history in ten embroidered panels, one for each of Guernsey's parishes.
Each panel covers a century and depicts the major events and traditions that have shaped both the island and it's residents. It was designed as a learning tool for future generations of locals and tourists to better inform us of the island's rich history , each panel bears the crest of each parish that stitched it.
Interestingly, many of the actual stitchers now act as volunteers at the Guernsey Tapestry and very much enjoy sharing their stories with visitors to the gallery.
