Ladies Bay
Guernsey
At a glance
Ladies Bay is a sandy beach on the north-east coast of Guernsey, set beside L’Ancresse Common. Despite its name, the bay welcomes everyone and has a family-friendly character. The open shoreline provides a setting for relaxed beach visits, with the surrounding common adding to the sense of space around the bay.
The beach is also associated with watersports, particularly windsurfing and kitesurfing. The Guernsey Sailing Trust runs windsurfing courses at Ladies Bay during the summer, with sessions for beginners, improvers and intermediates. Windsurfing instruction is available from the age of seven, making the bay a place where younger participants and adults can develop their skills in a coastal setting.
Practical facilities are close to the sand. Parking is available, and a kiosk with public toilets stands at the top of the slipway leading down to the beach. The slipway provides the main approach from the upper area to the shore, while the kiosk offers a convenient point for refreshments during a visit. Ladies Bay is an outdoor destination, so the beach and its watersports are central to the experience rather than a formal indoor attraction.
The bay suits families looking for a straightforward beach day, as well as visitors interested in windsurfing or kitesurfing. The mix of sand, parking, nearby facilities and access to L’Ancresse Common makes it suitable for combining time by the water with a walk across the surrounding coastal landscape.
Public bus routes 13, 91 and 92 serve the area. Ladies Bay is also close to Vraic, a restaurant near the beach, giving visitors the option of pairing a coastal outing with a nearby meal. Conditions at the shore can vary, particularly for anyone planning to swim or take part in watersports, so local timing and access information are useful when organising a visit.
