Getting to Sark

There is no airport on Sark but you can get to the island by ferry from Guernsey and also from Jersey. The main passenger service to Sark is provided by the Sark Shipping Company, which is based at Guernsey's St Peter Port Harbour. The company operates through the year and during the high season its offices are open from 7am until 6pm most days.

The Sark Shipping Company runs a freight and passenger service throughout the year to cater for visitors and for Sark residents. The journey time between Sark and St Peter Port Harbour is approximately 45 minutes. The main tourism season runs from April to September, when the frequency of the ferries is higher. The Sark boats leave from a dedicated berth at St Peter Port, which is just a few minutes' walk from Guernsey's Town Centre, and they arrive at Sark's Maseline Harbour, where passengers are met by a tractor driven taxi service (there are no cars in Sark). Alternatively, passengers can choose to walk up the 'harbour hill' to the island's small village centre. See www.sarkshipping.com for timetable details.

It is also possible to get to Sark from Jersey. The French ferry company Manche Iles Express runs a seasonal service from Jersey's St Helier Harbour that also links up with the Normandy port of Granville. The voyage from Jersey to Sark takes about 50 minutes. For more details see www.manche-iles-express.com.
